PAKAM provides video production support and training to communities through the the region and organises coverage of major events and stories at community request. We work with other organisations (ie. Ranger programs, art centres, health services, law and culture centres, schools) to provide training and production support.
We have up to 20 RIBS community workers in 10 communities, but we also respond to other town and community requests. PAKAM maintains an archive of all productions at the PAKAM hub in Broome and we regularly deliver new programs to ICTV for direct to home transmission via VAST channel 601. These programs are also made available online to an international audience on ICTV Play.
PAKAM also produces commissioned programs with funding from CBF, NITV, ScreenWest and Screen Australia.
Our first Songlines production Tjawa Tjawa was screened at festivals around the world. You can find more information on NITV or view on ICTV Play.
The types of productions produced range from oral histories, stories about country, traditional stories and dance, community events, live music concerts, music video clips, health information campaigns, sports, fishing and hunting. Language productions are sub-titled. At community request, PAKAM can provide DVD copies of its productions.
You can view some more of PAKAM’s video productions on ICTV Play.
